Charity Provides Paid Employment for Young Hopefuls

21.12.2009

The charity Friendship Zone was one of the first organisations in Northampton to be lucky enough to be involved in a national scheme run by Future Job Fund. This proposal is together combating unemployment and is creating 20 jobs for young hopefuls in Northampton, giving them the chance for a 6 month paid work contract with the charity.

The charity has been given their first 5 employees who are currently underway on their employment and training. This opportunity is providing them teaching on computers, telemarketing, how to make friends online, and how to find employment. One of Friendship Zones’ aims is to make dreams come true, and for the first 5 employees, it is the start of one of their many dreams being made possible.

Adam North, 22, from Northampton was unemployed for 3 years prior to being given an opportunity to work at Friendship Zone. During this three years he has twice completed a 13 week course on how to find employment, however has been unsuccessful in his findings. This opportunity was the lifeline he was looking for, and says that he is “very happy to be working again and back in employment. Not only this, but I feel great knowing I am working for a great cause”.

Aaron Heather, also 22 from Northampton was unemployed for 2 years before this opportunity came his way. He too found it difficult to find employment and more than happy about the opportunity to be working again and gaining training. His passion is music, and hopes to go to Nottingham next year to do a course on this. He said he is pleased as this means “no more sitting at home bored, I am now doing something with my life which gives me purpose. I am finally getting experience and learning something new!”

Friendship Zone is a social networking website which members can apply for various programmes online is which grants are given to help people achieve their dreams. This charity is unique like no other, as 100% of the revenues are reinvested back into the community and charitable projects suggested to Friendship Zone by its members.

Friendship Zone are not only providing employement for these people, but also giving invaluable training which can be carried with them into future job prospects. This opportunity is clearly benefiting all those involved and is already a great success.
